Blount TDOC Release System

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates a statewide prison and community-supervision system. Research identified no TDOC institution physically located in Blount County. A person sentenced by a Blount court may be received at an institution elsewhere in Tennessee, then move among TDOC placements. The correct record follows the person statewide.

A BCSO release entry showing transfer to TDOC ends county custody only. Wait for intake processing, then search the state system. A current institution location means confinement continues. A community-supervision office may mean physical prison release under parole or another state status. Discharge or sentence expiration means something else again and must be read from the exact record.

Confirm a TDOC Release

Felony Offender Information Lookup, or FOIL, is the official route. MyTN offers the same state channel. FOIL covers people who entered Tennessee felony correctional custody or supervision. It does not cover every arrest or short county jail stay.

1. Use the TOMIS number when available; it is more precise than a name.
2. Otherwise search by surname and given name, then compare middle name, birth data, photograph, and conviction details.
3. Open the matching record and copy the status, location or supervising office, and each date label verbatim.
4. For parole or supervision, contact the office shown in FOIL.
5. For a discharge record, compare the state date with the Blount judgment and county exit record.

FOIL Release Record Fields

FOIL data can include name, TOMIS identifier, demographic descriptors, a photograph where available, conviction and sentence information, correctional status, institution or supervising office, and release-related dates. The live interface controls the exact labels. Do not rename release eligibility, parole eligibility, sentence expiration, and actual discharge as one projected date.

TDOC Release Dates Need Context

A future date is a legal milestone or projection, not a promise that a gate will open that day. Sentence credits, consecutive terms, detainers, disciplinary decisions, recalculation, court orders, and parole decisions can change the path. Tennessee statutes also treat offenses and offense dates differently. Some credits affect parole eligibility without reducing sentence expiration.

Conditional release approved through the Board process and supervised by TDOC.

Expiration

The end of the sentence as calculated.

Discharge

The end of the applicable TDOC custody or supervision record.

A Board grant may still depend on a release plan and conditions. A scheduled hearing is not a release order. Preserve the date checked because FOIL is dynamic.

Blount TDOC Supervision Route

TDOC Field Services supervises state probation and parole, while the Tennessee Board of Parole decides parole matters. Blount County is in District 21. The Blount/Loudon field office is at 304 Home Avenue, Maryville, Tennessee 37801, phone 865-981-2360. Use it after FOIL identifies that office or state supervision.

County probation is separate and applies only when a judgment routes the case there. Do not assume every probation matter belongs to TDOC. A state parole record also does not prove that all court duties have ended.

TDOC Release Record Requests

FOIL is the first public view. For documentary proof, use TDOC's public-record procedure and identify the person by name, TOMIS number, institution, and date range. Ask for a public face sheet, discharge record, or sentence and release computation as appropriate. Redactions and exemptions may apply.

If FOIL has no result, check spelling, aliases, processing lag, expungement, a non-felony county matter, or federal custody. An expungement order can cause affected charges to be removed from FOIL/TOMIS. Absence is not proof that no past county booking occurred.

Blount TDOC Release Evidence

Parole is conditional release before sentence expiration. Probation is court ordered and may follow confinement. Both can place a person outside prison while supervision remains active. An inactive FOIL status points away from active TDOC custody, but does not state why release occurred.

Line up the BCSO exit, TDOC intake, and state release or discharge milestone. Processing lag can create gaps. Credits are offense-specific and discretionary. Holds, consecutive terms, discipline, court action, and Board decisions can change dates. No generic calculation replaces the agency record.

TDOC Credit Date Semantics

Tennessee sentence-reduction law shows why similar-looking dates answer different questions. Eligible TDOC inmates may receive documented monthly credit for satisfactory behavior and program performance within statutory limits. Awards are not automatic. Disciplinary findings can block or remove credit, and some custody levels or punitive settings limit awards. Certain approved education and residential treatment achievements may support additional credit, but statutory exclusions apply.

Offense date and sentence type matter. For some felony terms based on offenses committed on or after July 1, 2024, credits can affect the percentage served before parole eligibility without changing sentence expiration. Earlier offenses and other sentence classes may operate under different rules. A FOIL date therefore must retain its label. Release eligibility, possible parole, physical departure, expiration, and final discharge are separate points.

A date copied without its label, offense date, and custody context is weak evidence.

TDOC Release Request Details

A documentary request should identify the full name, TOMIS number, institution if known, and a useful date range. Ask for an existing public face sheet, discharge document, or sentence and release computation that fits the question. Do not ask TDOC to create a narrative about whether someone is free. The agency may redact protected material or withhold exempt records.

For parole outcomes, the Tennessee Board of Parole has a separate public-record route. Research identifies email as the Board's fastest request channel and recommends supplying the offender name and TDOC number. A hearing officer's recommendation is not the final decision, and Board members may adopt, change, or reject it. An appeal can also alter the expected path.

FOIL remains the fastest public status check. The record request supplies durable evidence when a dynamic result is incomplete. Together with the Blount court judgment and county exit record, it distinguishes a prison transfer, parole release, continued supervision, and final discharge.
