Blount BOP Release System
No Federal Bureau of Prisons institution is verified in Blount County. The system serves local federal matters through national custody and placement. Temporary detention at a county or contract site does not turn that location into a BOP prison. Before commitment, USMS and the federal docket may carry the stronger trail.
Once BOP has the person, its locator is the enduring public search. A county roster disappearance can mark a federal handoff, not community release. Read the BCSO release destination and federal court event together.
Search a Federal Release
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates released after 1982 and updates daily. It accepts a BOP register number in five-digit, hyphen, three-digit format, or a DCDC, FBI, or INS number. Name search supports first and last name with optional middle name, race, age, and sex.
- Search by federal number when possible.
- If using a name, add the available match fields.
- Compare name, register number, age, race, and sex.
- Read the location and release date exactly.
- Check the federal docket and any other custodian before treating the result as community release.

Those identifiers reduce false matches among people with similar names.

A past release date with no institution, or a location reading Released, means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not exclude federal supervised release, state or local custody, or immigration detention. BOP uses Not in BOP custody in the same agency-relative sense.
| BOP display | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Released plus past date | No longer held by BOP |
| Future release date | Projected from the current federal calculation |
| Unknown | Term may not yet be determined |
| In transit | Movement, not release |
| Regional Office | Administrative context, sometimes tied to another sentence |
BOP release statistics exclude transfers to another custodial jurisdiction. That distinction is vital in a Blount inquiry because a transfer to state or ICE custody is not a community exit.
Federal Release Record Sources
The federal criminal docket can show detention, bond, sentencing, revocation, and release orders. For a pretrial defendant who never developed a meaningful BOP sentence record, it may be the durable public evidence. The clerk, counsel, holding facility, and USMS district route can clarify where the order fits.
For more than locator data, use the BOP FOIA process. Identify the former inmate, register number, institution if known, date range, and exact record sought. Privacy and law-enforcement exemptions may limit release. Ask for an existing record, not a new explanation.

Blount Federal Release Custody
A person may be booked in the Blount County Adult Detention Facility and later taken into federal custody. The BCSO booking/release record should be requested for the county exit time and destination. USMS may then hold or move the person during federal proceedings. BOP becomes the best locator after commitment and designation.
If the BOP search is blank, do not infer release. The person may still be pretrial, in USMS contract detention, entered under another identifier, or held by a different authority. A federal court order can authorize release but another detainer may prevent immediate community return.
Strong Federal Release Proof
The strongest chain combines a BOP result, the federal docket, and the record of any next custodian. Preserve the search date and match at least two identifiers. A historical release date should not be used to claim a person's current location.
County and state systems answer different questions. The Blount County released-inmate search covers the local custody exit. TDOC FOIL applies only if Tennessee later held or supervised the person. ICE has its own short locator window. Do not merge these records into one status.
An arrest or federal prison record does not prove the outcome of every charge. Read the judgment and release record for their limited purpose.
BOP Release Date Precision
BOP says its locator refreshes daily. Daily is not real-time gate proof. Unknown can mean a term has not been fixed. In Transit means movement. Regional Office and Community Corrections labels can reflect administrative contexts. None should be rewritten as released.
A precise records request names a sentence computation, release document, or other existing file tied to the register number and date range. Locator fields aid matching but are not a full case history. Privacy review may apply.
Keep a dated result. The federal docket adds the judgment and orders, while the next custodian confirms a transfer. Together those records show more than one status badge.
BOP Federal Identity Fields
The BOP locator's number search is often the safer match. A BOP register number follows the five-digit, hyphen, three-digit pattern. The system also accepts DCDC, FBI, and INS identifiers. When only a name is known, optional middle name, race, age, and sex can help distinguish people with similar names. Every field should be used only to verify the correct federal record.
Results display the name, register number, current age, race, sex, release date, and location. A location marked Released with a past date means the person is no longer held by BOP. It says nothing final about a state sentence, ICE custody, a local hold, or federal supervised release. A future date is projected from BOP's present calculation and can change.
BOP's own statistics reinforce the distinction. Transfers to other custodial jurisdictions, including state or immigration detention, are excluded from federal community-release counts. A Blount-related federal timeline should therefore identify whether the BOP event was a true community exit or another handoff.
BOP Release Record Proof
For locator detail beyond the public result, the BOP FOIA route is the documented fallback. A focused request names the former inmate, register number, institution, date range, and exact file sought. A sentence computation or release document is more precise than a broad question about present freedom. Privacy and law-enforcement limits may affect production.
The federal docket complements BOP. It can show the judgment, sentence, detention order, bond, later revocation, and supervised-release terms. Yet a court order may not record the exact physical exit from a facility. The BOP record supplies the agency custody transition, and the next custodian supplies any later transfer.
Preserve the date of every locator check because the database updates daily. Match at least two identifiers. If a current result conflicts with an old screenshot or docket entry, rely on the originating agencies for clarification rather than guessing which event controls.
Note: A BOP release date confirms only the Bureau's custody event.
